Gentlemen (and possibly, ladies),I am now the proud possessor of the Mossman Great Plains (73-274) and I'm simply writing to thank you. The golden rule about buying guitars unseen is, don't do it. However, against all my better judgement, received wisdom and experience, I decided to take a huge risk and buy a forty-year old guitar from a shop that's seven time zones away. And, how delighted I am with the outcome. Eric Mardis deserves particular commendation for firstly, the accuracy of his responses and secondly, the quiet patience with which he dealt with me. I sometimes wonder if he thought he had Woody Allen as a customer and were I to meet him. I'd buy him a glass of fizzy pop or whatever else is drunk in celebration.

I can't shower enough praise on the company for the service I received and hope that you'll accept my very grateful thanks. In hindsight, I noticed that you sell T shirts. I should have bought one to advertise the fact that if you want it done right, come to Mass Street Music.

Dear Jim & Tim, Thank you both for making me feel so at home today. I've been to Mass St. Music on several occasions and never felt pressure to buy a thing. A few weeks ago I went to (a big box music store) in Omaha and I was greeted by a dude...as soon as I asked about 12 fret guitars, I lost him, mentally at least. I got my Eastman E20P home almost 2 hours ago and I can't put it down. It has a voice unlike any other instrument in my collection and it feels like everything I had hoped for.

I gigged with the Tungsten Buckwheat last night – turned out to be 3, 55-minute sets. Amazing! What great tone! Perfect for my blues band situation. (I even had thoughts of selling the RXJR and getting a second Buckwheat!)

In addition to a Wah, the only other pedal I rely on is an Xotic EP Booster. With these two pedals, the amp and using my guitar’s vol/tone controls, I could conjure/coax all kinds of great tone. The amp was inspiring.

Played at the Crossroads Blues Festival this past Friday and then on Saturday, played the Sedalia Blues Cruise and BBQ at the MO State Fair Grounds – both were a thrill! I've got Collings, Martins, Gibsons, Mossmans and my new Eastman is equal or better than any of them. I was looking for another Martin or Collings but not any more, I'm converted! Hi Jim & John,

I just wanted to drop you both a note on the fantastic job your Repair Shop did for me.

With Josh Baldridge's help (with the measurements), I ordered a new Gold Plated Tension Hoop for my Deering Golden Classic 5 string Banjo. I purchased this replacement part from OME Banjos, as Deering did not have one in stock.

The new tension hoop arrived at your store a couple weeks ago. Since Josh was out this week and last (due to the arrival of his new baby), Matt Harmon stepped up yesterday - installed this new tension hoop, and adjusted (lowered per my request) the action on my Golden Classic.

Matt did a tremendous job (as this installation required an almost full disassembly - plus string replacement)! My Golden Classic has never looked or sounded better!

I won't hesitate to use your Repair Shop again as your repair team (just like your sales staff) is extremely knowledgeable, professional and competent. Very important when working with high-end instruments!!!

As a middle-aged, gray-haired lady, I hate shopping at the big-box guitar store in my hometown. The twenty-something headbangers who work there act as if they think I have wandered into their store by mistake. So when I found myself in the market for a new acoustic guitar, I decided to wait for my annual trek home to KC so I could drive over to Mass Street Music. I thought I would probably find what I was looking for there, and I also knew that my shopping experience would be first-rate. I was right on both counts.

Brian Soden was wonderful to work with. He asked me what I was looking for, what my price range was and what I was currently playing. He listened to me carefully and then walked over to the wall and pulled down a Collings D2H. He made a joke about starting at the top end of my price range and then said this was his favorite acoustic guitar in the store. I played several other guitars that day, including another Collings, but nothing came close to the D2H in balance, tone and volume. I made a joke about having me play the best guitar in the shop first so that everything else would sound bad by comparison. There was a gentleman in the store who was waiting for his mandolin to be set up, and he agreed that the D2H sounded the best of all the guitars I played.

All of my friends who have heard it have been very impressed with its sound. It's just a beautiful guitar, and as Brian says, It's a keeper. Thanks to Brian and Mass Street Music for caring about quality and service.

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting Tim Nelson at your store. After visiting with Tim early that afternoon, I later returned and bought a new Collings SJ Cutaway Guitar that I had been considering for quite some time. Eric Clapton Ticket Contest Winner Doug Lockwood

Once again, my extreme thanks go out to you and Mass Street Music for the amazing opportunity to see Eric Clapton in concert last night at the Sprint Center. I have seen Clapton in concert before, but last night was one of his best performances by far.

As I'm sure you know, Roger Daltry was the opening act and took the audience on a one-hour nostalgic tour of the glory days of British invasion rock. He may have lost a bit of vocal range but has not lost any showmanship. His band did a very fine job of creating the other components of the familiar Who sound.

After a short break for stage reset, Professor Clapton strolled calmly to center stage and commenced his clinic on how to play guitar. His non-stop 1 1/2 hour performance left no one doubting his superior musical talents. His first segment had him weaving his rock magic by way of his very familiar Fender Stratocaster. He then shifted gears behind an Eric Clapton Signature Martin acoustic, with which he enthralled all of us with a fine selection of blues and ballads (including a wonderfully mellow version of "Layla"). For his final segment, he returned to his Fender magic wand and brought the crowd to its feet for a series of his career classics. He ended his set with "Cocaine", which had the entire crowd joining in the musical euphoria. He returned for a one song encore and left a very grateful audience with the same grace he entered ... making us all feel honored to have shared the evening with a true legend.

This fantastic gift package with great seats came just 2 1/2 weeks after my birthday, so thanks for making this year one of my best.

I came in last Thursday and bought the strat and amp. What can I say but, "wow." Everything I'd hoped for and more. As we say in bike racing, it's the motor that makes the difference, but sometimes great gear does, too. That's certainly the case for me. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Speaking of, I just wanted to let you know what a great job Brian did in taking care of me during my visit. He spent the better part of an hour to make sure I got what I wanted, setting up the gear, doing a brief demo and pointing out a few of the features of the amp, discussing a couple other guitars, and setting me up with some accessories. I met Jim when he came in, and the three of us had a few moments to talk cycling and shoot the breeze a bit.

By this time it was probably pushing 6:30 and I remembered that I had ridden my bike to the shop (I hadn't been sure that I was going to get the whole rig that night). I asked if I could pick up the stuff at lunch the next day. Brian asked where I lived and then, after I left with the stand, cables and stuff, and he took care of Rudy, delivered the guitar and amp to my door! I live only about a half-mile away, but he didn't have to do that, or stay late, or spend as much time and attention on me as he did, but he was very enthusiastic and helpful, and I definitely felt that he went the extra mile for me, and I thought you should know. Thanks again and take care.

Just wanted to write a note of thanks for a great repair job on my 1952 Martin 00-17. Mike did a complete refret on the guitar along with some other needed repairs and the workmanship is outstanding! I spent a couple hours playing it last night after I just getting it home and it is remarkable the difference his skilled repairs have made in this little gem of a guitar- it plays like a new instrument. I received the Tom Anderson Crowdster last Tuesday and this guitar is really something else. I had a chance to use it in the worship setting yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. The guitar plays so well (very easy to play and so smooth) and sounds great - you forget you are even playing. I mean, it was a first go, so there are definitely things that I need to work on in terms of EQ and overall sound mix, but I am very excited to go back at it this coming weekend. Also definitely want to play around with the different functions of the guitar. We'll see how that goes.

Wanted to say thanks to you and Mass St. for all your help - it was really a painless process that I can see myself repeating in the future with all my equipment needs.
