This is one of the best combination of Germanium transistors and diodes we have ever heard. The combination of the "woolly mammoth" tones from the Germanium and the smooth, buttery crunch of the diode produces a HUGE tone from this yellow guy. If your Fuzz Face clones are frustrating you due to the inconsistancy from temperature changes and are tired of altering your playing style to suit the pedal, this is your box. It actually reacts in a POSITIVE way to variations in your picking attack and will give you consistant Germanium tones from gig to gig. This one has the bass boost switch and the diode selector switch. The left switch is the bass boost when in the up mode. The right switch gives you more of the Germanium for the most distortion in the up position, and a stock tone with the silicon and germanium blend for the clipping. All modes yield satisfying results and are infinitely better and more responsive than the stock SD-1. We also had Robert install the Burr Brown chip for higher fidelity, but the TI RC4558P chip is in a little compartment for use as a backup or to allow the user to change if so desired.
