Robert Keeley Effect Pedals - Java Boost MullardThis is the finest Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster clone on the market today. It actually utilizes a REAL NOS Mullard Germanium transistor (a CV-7003 in this unit) in its era correct circuit to give authentic mid 60's British style treble boosting. Those not familiar with these pedals are in for a real treat or an education depending on how it is used. By itself, into a clean amp, it sounds, well frankly...pretty weird, but in front of an AC30/JTM 45 or Bassman in the normal channel, on the verge of overdrive and you get a huge increase in treble bite, sustain and 2nd order harmonics. And due to the Germanium transistor, this unit provides a very unique attack to your tone, spongy or hard as nails depending on your attack. The effect is classic Brian May/Blues Breaker era Clapton/ Ritchie Blackmore/Tony Iommi crunch depending on the guitar or amp used. Another cool way to use this pedal in a more modern, multi-pedal set up, is to use this in front of a high quality "Tube Screamer" style pedal set at moderate overdrive. The effect is similar to an old amp cranked, BUT CAN be used in front of a clean amp at moderate volumes for authentic British gain that won't get you fired from a gig. Keeley also has two different modes of boost on top of the classic treble boost to help match better to different amps, guitars, etc. The military grade 3 way switch allows for classic treble boost (middle mode), mid boost (right) or full frequency (left). A particular favorite set up is the Java dimed on both knobs on the full frequency setting into a Tube Screamer set pretty dark and rich into a Dr. Z MAZ 18 or 38, WOW!! Its all there...Paranoid, Bohemian Rhapsody, Black Knight, Steppin' Out... $229.99 View all Robert Keeley Effect Pedals |
