Taylor Acoustic Guitars - BTO GA Custom

The first of our Taylor Build-to-Order guitars from my my trip to the Taylor factory in May has arrived. This is the Taylor BTO GA Custom with eye-popping Cocobolo back and sides, fantastic Adirondack Spruce top, and elegant black binding with black rosette, and "mini-dot" fret markers.

I knew that when Bob Taylor was helping me sort through the different sets of Coco that I'd find something special... we "wet" the wood to get an idea of how it would look finished, and the room of dealers that I was with was awash with "oohhhs and ahhhs" as the wood revealed itself. Needless to say, it's the finest set of Coco I have ever seen - absolutely gorgeous. We needed to find a worthy top next! Bob and I went through the Adirondack tops to find one with sweet, wide grains to achieve the extended dynamic range we were looking for - sweet at low volumes, bombastic when you dig in. This is it.

Aesthetically, this guitar is aces. Sound? Well, this GA nails the classic Taylor GA sound with some remarkable sonic bonuses! The Cocobolo lends a brilliant snap to the trebles while maintaining a nice full midrange. Not as much bass as with a rosewood model - but this guitar is designed to cut through Martins and the like with a razor-like sweetness... complex and dynamically sensitive. Play sweet fingerstyle passages with amazing subtlety - unleash a flatpick on it and your leads will pop out over the dreadnought masses with sublime authority! Do you want to be heard at your next jam? This is the one. I'm impressed to say the least. I'm confident that the Build to Order program is one of the very best ways to acquire a guitar that is truly special. This particular Taylor BTO GA Custom was made with woods hand picked by Bob Taylor himself and is a force of nature. Call for more details on this unique instrument - it's a stunner. - Eric
