Gibson Banjos - 1930s Kel Kroydon KK-11MPN: 1930s Kel Kroydon KK-11 This Gibson Kel Kroydon Banjo originally was a tenor 4-string KK-11. Gibson introduced this model banjo and sold it with the one piece flange (now very sought after) and without a tone ring. The pearloid fretboard and resonator are the signature features of this banjo. This has been converted to a 5-string with a beautiful custom reproduction neck by Wyatt Fawley with the finish work by Leo Posch. The pot and resonator are original, but the original rim has been cut and fitted with a premium Blaylock tone ring. The original banjo neck was solid blue on the back, but this neck is a blue/gold sunburst to show the beautiful Maple grain. Scruggs/Keith tuners are included also. Gibson sold their name brands through Gibson dealers, and this Kel Kroydon through other outlets. This has an incredibly flat flange and is the cleanest example of one of these that I have ever seen. Courtney Johnson of the New Grass Revival toured for years with one of these converted 11 pots. This is a real treasure. The original neck, tailpiece, are included, as well as a newer tweed TKL case and strap. $6,000. Consignment item, sorry shipping not included. USED |
