Taylor Acoustic Guitars - GS MiniMPN: GS Mini The Taylor GS Mini acoustic guitar has really made folks take notice since its recent debut, including Premier Guitar, which calls this the 'new Parlor guitar for the 21st century' and gave it a 4 out of 5 rating. What Taylor has done is create a very playable, full size feeling acoustic that delivers real tone - all in a durable and totally portable size. The body depth is over an inch deeper than the Baby Taylor and the scale length is 3/4" longer - the tonal difference is clear once you strum it. Or just pick it up. This is a solid instrument with a solid Sitka Spruce top and durable Sapele (a cousin of Mahogany) laminate back and sides. Nice details are here too with an Ebony fretboard on a Sapele NT neck, an Ebony bridge, and the same tuners, nut and saddle materials that are used on full sized Taylors. No skimping here. Playability is excellent, and the tone here really reaches well beyond other minis you've heard before, with a really good, wide range. No, it's not a full size dread, but it is a real leap forward in build and tone for smaller travel sized guitars. This has a noticeable warmth and yes, full sound that will really surprise you. Check out Doyle Dykes fingerpicking the heck out of one here. This also comes with a cool hybrid type gig bag that has straps and is totally travel worthy, while giving you extra padding and substantial neck support for the mini. Wish you could plug it in? You can! Add in the Taylor ES-Go pickup for just $99. It's super easy to install. This Taylor GS Mini is a real innovation at a great price.
