Bill Collings based the design of this, and two other Collings we just received, on one of our owner, Jim Baggett's own vintage Gibson J-35 guitars. One of the things that sets this amazing instrument apart from other CJs is the Adirondack straight (non-scalloped) bracing with three transverse braces giving the top more compression resulting in exceptional classic tone. The top here is German Spruce with a hand applied color with shaded figured Maple back and sides, which is simply stunning - and that burst that Collings does so extremely well. This is all set off beautifully with ivoroid binding and every detail we've come to expect from Collings. An exceptional player with a 1 3/4" nutwidth and 2 1/4" string spacing.
