This Leo Posch MGA-RW Multi-scale/fan fret guitar is a unique piece made especially for those who love drop tunings. You have a normal 25.4" scale on the high side and a 26" scale on the low string, though this works beautifully for standard tunings as well. The depth and clarity in the drop tunings though is really great and though the frets appear to be a challenge, it's a more comfortable player than you'd ever imagine - and opens up immense creative possibilities.
Kansas luthier Leo Posch hand selected the Adirondack (Red) Spruce and Indian Rosewood back and sides for this MGA, as he does for all 20 of the instruments he builds in a year - always keeping stiffness and tonal potential first and foremost. Inspired by vintage 20s-40s guitars, Posch uses old world craftsmanship including hide glue which dries harder - another reason his instruments resonate so beautifully. All of his build techniques result in a remarkably responsive instrument that is a real joy to play. He finished this MGA with light French polish shellac before adding the traditional nitrocellulose lacquer finish - all steps to achieve the best tone.
The nutwidth here is a comfortable 1 3/4", with an Ebony fretboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, and Waverly tuners. This Leo Posch MGA-RW comes with a hard case too.$5,100.00
This Leo Posch NL-Maple is a take on the classic Nick Lucas deeper bodied concert guitar and what an instrument! This has an Adirondack Spruce top with stunning Sugar Maple back and sides, a full body 'sunburnt' finish and tremendous cloud fretboard inlays and moon headstock inlay. The scale is 24.8" with a 1 3/4" nutwidth and 2 5/16" spacing. The neck joins the body at the 13th fret - something Posch did for a custom order once and found the proportions to sound wonderful, but also be aesthetically appealing with the placement of the soundhole and bridge. This NL is extremely playable with a comfortable neck, outstanding sound and that certain inexplicable mojo that some rare guitars have.
Kansas Luthier Leo Posch builds only about 20 guitars per year, each hand crafted, with woods he hand selects for stiffness and tonal potential first and foremost. From his use of hide glue to his techniques resulting in a slightly lighter weight guitar, his instruments achieve unparalleled resonance and response. He uses nitrocellulose lacquer finish, but adds his 'sunburnt' coloring before the finish is laid on, allowing the full character of the woods to show through.
"This guitar is wonderful. It's a high definition instrument, with a great harmonic blend that is still very clear. A really even sound, warm with a slightly bigger low-end than most Maples, but still stays focused. It has a clear, shimmery top-end without being harsh. Very nice guitar." - John F.

"Like a Swiss army knife, this guitar does many "jobs" in a compact package. It's extremely light and feels very alive. Responds beautifully to a light touch - finger style passages are a joy. Very expressive. The neck feels ultra comfortable and easy to get around on. With a flat pick, it gets astonishingly loud while retaining clarity. Lots of headroom here without over-driving the Red Spruce top. It's hard to imagine a musical style that this fantastic little guitar wouldn't compliment." - Eric M.

"This Leo Posch D-M is a fantastic bluegrass cannon - notes seem to explode out of this guitar! Leo hand selects his Red (Adirondack) Spruce tops with an eye for stiffness and sound potential over beauty, but this guitar has both in spades. Gorgeous "sunburnt" finish dresses up the top without obscuring the grain of the wood. Don't get fooled by good looks though, this Mahogany body dread provides tremendous tonal velocity, and awesome clarity." - Eric Mardis
