You try hundreds of guitars or basses attempting to find "the right one", and then you need to plug into something, right? - preferably, the best amp that you can afford whether you are a professional or a beginner. We carry a wide variety of amps from the simple solid state practice amp to the very best in hand-built tube amplification.
Our employees have owned or tried virtually every brand that has ever been on the market (some of us collect them!). Some are great, and some have been a disaster. When we decide to stock a particular amp or manufacturer, we rigorously judge whether or not we would take it on a gig or a recording session. Whether it's a tube, digital modeling, or solid-state amp, it has to pass our tests of reliability, value, and most of all, TONE! - yes, even the practice amps! If it doesn't, we don't stock it. It's that simple.
Breaking news...one of favorite items is now available as a stand alone - the Dr. Z Brake Lite Attenuator SA! This is the exact same innards as the installable version, but you can use it with any tube amp (up to 45 watts, 4,8, 16 ohm loads) whenever you want. Now you can insure your full-on sound at any volume -you're easily able to get the sound of your amp on 'eleven' at a volume you can play anywhere.
You can also run multiple cabs easily with the two speaker outputs here, wired in parallel. Set it on your amp, or wherever - it's got 4 half-inch rubber feet for good clearance and weighs a mere pound and a half. At the 0 setting it's fully bypassed and each click gives you more attenuation: 1=2dB, 2=5dB, 3=8dB, and 4=11dB. Note from the doc: Always use speaker cable to connect the Brake Lite SA to your speaker. When connecting a second cab you will be making a parallel load. Ex: a pair of 8 ohm cabs use the 4 ohm speaker out on your amp. This Dr. Z Brake Lite Attenuator SA is a beautifully designed innovative piece of gear that makes life a little easier.

Holy smokes! This Bogner Mojado head is a little monster!! Running through a Cube, I was pulling out monstrous tones with this Seuf OF-20F. There is a decent amount of clean headroom on tap with a single coil guitar, using position 1 on the schizoid dial. The cleans are big and lush, and filled the room. Turning the amp past 12 o'clock, it gets nice and gritty with a little saturation. Never fizzy or harsh...just down right punchy and very assertive, which seems to be a Bogner trademark. When pegged, the drive gets thick and rich, but is still very manageable and cleans up very nicely with the guitar's volume knob. It's incredibly dynamic as well. When using a light pick attack, the amp's response is on the cleaner side, but when you dig in, the amp replies with more bark. This is SO cool, because you don't have to dance around quite as much on your pedals when trying to find clean or dirty sounds. I could see this being a total blast in pretty much any setting. This Bogner Mojado head is perfect for Studio, live performance, home, rehearsal. - Brian S.

"For such a simple appearance, this Dr. Z Carmen Ghia Head contains some of the most complex, rich guitar tones. It's incredibly touch sensitive, so playing with dynamics is a total blast. Single coils, humbuckers, P-90s...they all respond very well with this amp due to the VERY effective tone knob. You can find the sweet spot very easily with just a small turn. At this price point, or any price point for that matter, you can't go wrong with a Carmen Ghia. Over the years I've sold these to everybody from chicken pickers to jazz fusion guys and they've all found their perfect tone!" - Brian S.
At first glance, this head looks rather.. well, modest. This is why this amp leaves so many people floored from the first note. Clean notes come out with a warmth, complexity, and sustain like one has never heard from such a small amp. Every note has a hugeness to it that seems far beyond an 18 watt head. All this comes before the amp really starts to sing. As you turn the Volume clockwise, the fun factor increases. The big clean notes get even BIGGER than they were before. Sustain becomes as smooth and musical as you have ever heard it. Notes seem to sing forever. This is an incredibly fun amp, and you'll have trouble putting your guitar down. The Dr. Z Carmen Ghia Head interacts with the player because the player can feel the power tube distortion.

"This new Germino Club 40 Style II 212 Combo has me totally floored! My new favorite amp! The combination of Greg's Club 40 with the new Style II cabinet is seriously rockin'. The shallower Style II cab seems to contribute to a bit more aggressive mid-range and high end with a bit earlier break-up. This amp cleans up so well too. It's definitely an amp that classic rockers as well as country pickers would appreciate. Plugging in this Grosh Retro Classic VT and noodling around a bit allowed me to pull out Billy Squier riff-ready tones as well as excellent, clearly voiced chicken pickin' tones with just a touch of grit dialed in. Lovin' it!!" - Brian S.

This Bogner Cube is the coolest and best sounding 1 x 12" cab in the business. Ported, to give the low end the authority of a 4 x 12" cab, yet properly tuned to avoid any of the "woofiness" usually associated with ported cabs. Mics think it's a 4 x 12, and the Celestion Vintage 30 has enough power handling capabilities to take up to 60 watts, plenty of headroom for even the nastiest of vintage 50 watt Marshall tops. Easy to carry and sized perfectly (just about 18" by 18") for many of Dr. Z's small box tops as well! This Bogner Cube is one of our all-time faves.
This little guy is a monster! I've used one of these under a Dr. Z Route 66 - it mics up extremely well and is much lighter to haul to a gig than a 4x12! -Brian S.
