The result is great playability. Add that to its stellar sound, and you won't ever want to put it down. "This mando is amazing, and it's hard to believe that this instrument is over 100 years old. It plays extremely well, much thanks to its newer fretboard, and I can't get over how good it sounds. It's loud, has a great punch on the front end of your pick attack, and projects its warm, full-bodied tone extremely well." - Jesse R.

Beautifully built by our friends at Collings, it has a fully carved and highly resonant Adirondack Spruce top, and Maple back and sides. Gibson 1950 F-12

Gibson Mandolins - 1950 F-12

This vintage 1950 Gibson F-12 plays wonderfully. A gorgeous instrument, it is in Very Good condition for its age, despite some aesthetic playwear. The pickguard has been removed, but other than that this mandolin is an all-original classic. A bit of history in this one, the numbers engraved in the tailpiece (see photo) are most likely the original owner's social security number, a common practice long before identity theft was an issue. To make sure this mando was playing perfectly, the expert luthiers in our repair shop did some minor work including a binding re-glue, a nut shim, a set-up and a restring. It has some wear on the neck, a repaired curl on the peghead, and a slight separation in the back seam approximately two inches long (see photos). This 1950 Gibson F-12 mando is bright, responsive, fun to play, and comes with its original hard case. $3,000. Consignment item. Sorry, shipping not included. USED
