There really isn't much that we can say about the good Doctor's amps that would mean half as much as plugging into one, even for a minute. Utilizing unique, simple designs that are reminiscent of classic vintage amps without copying them, Dr. Z's philosophy is simple: create an amp that sounds good at all volume levels, with all types of guitars, in the studio, in the bedroom, and on stage that actually creates a synergy with the player. Breaking news...one of favorite items is now available as a stand alone - the Dr. Z Brake Lite Attenuator SA! This is the exact same innards as the installable version, but you can use it with any tube amp (up to 45 watts, 4,8, 16 ohm loads) whenever you want. Now you can insure your full-on sound at any volume -you're easily able to get the sound of your amp on 'eleven' at a volume you can play anywhere.
You can also run multiple cabs easily with the two speaker outputs here, wired in parallel. Set it on your amp, or wherever - it's got 4 half-inch rubber feet for good clearance and weighs a mere pound and a half. At the 0 setting it's fully bypassed and each click gives you more attenuation: 1=2dB, 2=5dB, 3=8dB, and 4=11dB. Note from the doc: Always use speaker cable to connect the Brake Lite SA to your speaker. When connecting a second cab you will be making a parallel load. Ex: a pair of 8 ohm cabs use the 4 ohm speaker out on your amp. This Dr. Z Brake Lite Attenuator SA is a beautifully designed innovative piece of gear that makes life a little easier.

"For such a simple appearance, this Dr. Z Carmen Ghia Head contains some of the most complex, rich guitar tones. It's incredibly touch sensitive, so playing with dynamics is a total blast. Single coils, humbuckers, P-90s...they all respond very well with this amp due to the VERY effective tone knob. You can find the sweet spot very easily with just a small turn. At this price point, or any price point for that matter, you can't go wrong with a Carmen Ghia. At first glance, this head looks rather.. well, modest. This is why this amp leaves so many people floored from the first note. Clean notes come out with a warmth, complexity, and sustain like one has never heard from such a small amp. Every note has a hugeness to it that seems far beyond an 18 watt head. All this comes before the amp really starts to sing. As you turn the Volume clockwise, the fun factor increases. The big clean notes get even BIGGER than they were before. Sustain becomes as smooth and musical as you have ever heard it. Notes seem to sing forever. This is an incredibly fun amp, and you'll have trouble putting your guitar down. This Dr. Z Carmen Ghia 112 Combo is extremely pedal friendly...I don't think I've ever plugged anything into this amp (guitars or effects) and gotten a tone I didn't like. If you're not into bells and whistles and want to get straight to the goods, this is the one for you. A perfect grab-and-go amp for any gig or recording session. This killer combo amp is one 12" Celestion G12 speaker, two knobs, and ALL ROCK!! This amp is so cool it's ridiculous. It has been labeled "billy in a box" and its definitely got that ZZ thing about it but it also has a sweet edgy clean tone when you back of the guitars volume that is super responsive to touch. A delicate pick attack gives you a nice clean bluesy tone but the more you dig in the more dirt you can speckle your tone with till you bring the volume up on your guitar for full gain. This Dr.Z JAZ 20/40 combo amplifier is one the very coolest of Dr. Z's creations...and it's sa-weeet. Utilizing 6V6s in the power section, you can dial up nice "American" clean sounds, a la Blackface Fender, but with a tighter bottom end. Plugged into a Tele with the built-in tube-driven reverb switched on and I was getting some nice Jeff Buckley-esque tones! This amp also LOVES humbuckers, so next I plugged in a Grosh Electrajet with Grosh's new humbucking pickups. Bringing the Master volume into the picture, I could dial in a big, fat overdrive with a solid feeling presence. Very "Americana" -think Warren Haynes and Mike Campbell sitting down and listing everything they'd want an amp to do for them. This is what you'd get! Awesome. - Brian S.
This totally encompasses all your favorite qualities from Dr Z’s most popular models. With the front end of the MAZ series coupled to a cathode biased 4 6V6 output section this amp is the most feature laden Z amp to date. No need to decide between buying a 20 watt or 40 watt amp. This amp offers both in one box. Like the Dr Z Remedy amp, the JAZ 20/40 has the amazing 1/2 power switch feature. There is zero change in tone and response when going between the 1/2 and full power modes. You just get more or less volume. The 1/2 power switch along with the master volume will allow you to dial the JAZ in for any size room. Sparkling, full bodied clean head room to lower wattage output tube grind…it’s all in there.
Full bias modulating output tube tremolo is on board as well. Output tube tremolo gives you a depth not heard with pedals or opticoupler circuits. You get deep pulsating swells of tremolo from the JAZ. Whether you desire slow and mellow or faster Bo Diddley sounds you can dial it in with ease via the speed and depth controls. Add in the tube driven reverb, and you’ll be navigating the swamps of the bayou. Speaking of reverb, this amp's reverb circuit has been dialed in to produce a very lush verb. You’ll find it has great depth compared with other single knob reverbs. The front panel features controls for volume, full EQ, master, speed, depth, and reverb. Around back is an effects loop, speaker outs (4, 8, and 16) and the 1/2 power switch. The reverb and tremolo can be turned on and off via the supplied 2 button footswitch. This Dr. Z Jaz 20/40 combo amplifier is one of the coolest amps Dr.Z has ever made!

Fabulous sounding Dr. Z Maz 38 Sr NR 212 combo. This is used and in Mint condition. This is the non-verb version loaded with Celestion Alnico Blues. We love the sound of this running into the Blues speakers. It's all here, Voxey chime, Blackface sparkle and woody British overdrive when pushed hard. Takes pedals extremely well, and Oh...yeah...it's gorgeous too with a custom hardwood front panel. This Dr. Z Maz 18 NR 112 Combo with EQ Bypass is brand new from the good Doctor Z and just kills. The Maz 18 is already incredible, but this new mod can turn it into a beast with one stomp of the footswitch.
"This amp turns into a complete monster with this mod engaged! I plugged in the Nash TC-63 and gave it a good spin. In the neck position using the humbucker with the volume on the amp pegged and the master volume at around 9:00, I was pulling out Brian May Vox-y tones that I couldn't believe. Seriously. The end solo on "We Will Rock You"...it's in this amp! At other settings with various guitars (Strats and a Gibson SG w/P-90s) I was getting incredible British crunch sounds making me want to whip out Bad Company riffs. The cool new mod of the EQ Bypass allows you to remove the tone stack (bass, mid and treble controls) from the amp's circuit which opens the amp up tremendously - giving it more gain and a thicker tone quality. The "Cut" knob will still operate as normal, allowing you to dial in your desired amount of bite -and we do mean BITE. We love this amp for all around tube tone plus this new, versatile EQ Bypass. Great for pop, blues, hard rock, country, but for pure rock...this is it. This Dr. Z Monza 210 combo seriously brings the goods. More punch from a pair of 10" inch speakers than you'd expect, but does have the clarity of 10's when you roll the guitar volume back. At moderate gain settings, I thought of Joe Walsh's "Funk 49" era tone. At higher gain settings with P-90s and humbuckers, a little Brian May comes out. Tons of rich sustain. The good Doctor made this incredible head. It's all hand wired - 60 watts of pure sound fueled by EL34s and three 12AX7s, with endless tonal possibilies. With gain and power you've got incredible rock crunch. Roll back the volume on the guitar for shimmery cleans. This gets you the tones you need from clear to crunch and every nuance in between. Big stage or small, the SRZ fits the situation. The full EQ and Presence circuit on this Dr. Z SRZ-65 head let you dial in the perfect blend of top end, middle, and bass for your guitar.
