I'm incredibly impressed with the tones I was able to pull out of this JHS Pollinator Fuzz pedal! The bias knob helps you dial in just the amount of darkness and spatter. Since the early days of Rock & Roll no other pedal has made its way onto more recordings, stages and rigs than the classic Fuzz Face. The Pollinator is JHS' take on a classic design but with some huge improvements. The original as well as most other companies designs have a very low output volume, so JHS tripled the available headroom! You can achieve a wider range of tones now because even at lower gain settings the volume you need is there. Another addition is the external bias knob. This allows you to fine-tune just the right amount of power to the perfectly matched germanium AC128 transistors inside. The bass is tight and focused but still classic and the highs in the JHS Pollinator Fuzz pedal are as crisp as anything we've ever heard in a vintage design.

This offers a more focused frequency range than any pedal in its class. The bass and mids melt perfectly into a combination that can make a 1x12 combo sound as if you have a stack of cabs backstage. The spiky and brutal highs of the original design have been tamed and are now submitting in a very pleasing way that allows you to actually use the tone/filter knob past 25%. JHS' biggest addition is the sweep knob that gives you instant control over the gain structure as a whole. This allows for perfect and precise tuning of the breakup and clipping in the circuit. With just a volume and range knob, you will be amazed by sounds from the JHS Banana Boost pedal. Paired with any tube amp, you have at your feet one of the most versatile tone shaping tools available.
The volume knob gives you more than enough headroom to easily drive your amp into natural breakup but the range knob is where the magic is found. When turned to the left 50% you have Rangemaster/Treble Booster tones and to the right 50% you have full range boost tones in the ranks of a LPB-1 power booster. The placement of this pedal can yield vastly different results. When ran after your overdrive or fuzz it projects exactly what it hears and sends it soaring above the mix. If you run it before your dirt boxes you can force them into rich harmonic saturation that will cause a permanent smile on your face. Either way you choose, the result of the JHS Banana Boost is a booster that does its job so well you may never turn it off.
