This Blue Chip TD50 Pick and the compadre picks, the CT55, TAD50, and others have really been a revelation this year. Pricier yes, but worth every penny due to their longevity, materials and precise nature. Don't believe the hype? Stop by the store and try one out for yourself in the acoustic room upstairs. These have been given the big thumbs up by our repair shop manager and member of The Midday Ramblers, Mike Horan. This TD is a standard teardrop shape, with two rounded corners and one sharper playing corner, in a 50/1000 of an inch(1.25mm) thickness. Professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched. This Blue Chip TD50 Pick is one of our Best Top 10 Essential Accessories for 2010!
This Blue Chip TAD40 Pick and others from this company have really made a mark this year in music with a truly innovative pick! These are seriously better and worth every penny. What are they made of? We don't know, it's top secret! It plays even better than tortoise shell, with no wear and no flaking and is super fast. Supposedly it's made from 'self lubricating composite material' - whatever it is, we love it. And so do artists like Chris Thile, Rhonda Vincent, Paul Williams, Danny Roberts and others who have discovered the innovate Blue Chips.
This pick is 40/1000 of an inch(1.0mm) thickness and shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All Blue Chip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled. This Blue Chip TAD40 Pick is one of our Best Top 10 Essential Accessories for 2010 and 2011!

This Blue Chip TAD50 Pick is our repair shop manager, Mike H.'s favorite. This is longer lasting and better sounding than tortoise picks and as he is quick to point out, legal! It's also more consistent than tort picks which can really range. We're happy to provide a selection of Blue Chips at Mass St. Music for you to try out when you visit the store and make up your own mind. Mike's take on this pick is that he prefers it over the similar CT55 - the bevel is just slightly different but that made a big difference in sound, with the CT having more high end definition. They cost a heck of a lot more than other picks, but the durability and tone of the Blue Chip Pick is quickly becoming legendary.

This Blue Chip CT55 Pick is a very pleasant surprise, as is the whole line of Blue Chips! This one was custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. These raise eyebrows when you look at the cost, but everyone...everyone who has played one has been blown away. These are made with exacting specs and according to our shop manager Mike H., "These are longer wearing and more consistent than tortoise shell - and hey, they aren't illegal." He was really surprised at the differences between the picks, how great they sound and hold up in the long run. Don't take our word for it, come in the store and try one out for yourself. This particular CT55 is very similar in size and shape to their TAD line of picks. However this one is manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per Thile's own specs. This is the exact pick that Thile is currently using. Check out Thile's take on Blue Chip Picks here.

"Super comfortable, this Griffith Pick bovine hoof pick is very expressive, projecting a bright, articulate sound that is wonderful for bluegrass. MOOOOO-ve on down to the store or click to add this little bessie to your tonal arsenal." - Mass Street Staff
The pick is the brainchild of a good friend of the store, and has become one of our favorite accessories. These are very cool picks, hand crafted from bovine hoofs. Great for a lot of styles and our own John Flynn has become a big fan. These come off the string nicely and are great for faster types of playing as well. These give you a metallic yet not harsh tone. Great for just about any player!
