Pristine craftsmanship from top to bottom, this McPherson 4.0XP is stunning. With a captivating sound that is rounded and rich, and playability so good it's hard to put down, this guitar is amazing. Its Bear Claw Sitka top is stiffer and stronger than standard Sitka Spruce, and this added strength provides a more punchy voice and robust sound. Aside from the tone, its unique figure in the grain is beautiful. It has African Mahogany back and sides, which provide crisp mids and bright trebles, and make for a fundamentally clear and responsive voice.
There's no doubt McPherson's guitars are unique. The offset elliptical soundhole increases the flexible surface area on the central part of the instrument, creating extended resonance and full tone. It has a cantilevered, carbon fiber reinforced neck that is extremely stable. This design allows for exceptionally accurate playing and superb intonation. Throw in the Buzz Feiten Tuning System, and you won't have to worry about being in tune. Since the fretboard is not fixed to the top of the instrument (see photo), it allows the body of the guitar to vibrate at its full potential, increasing resonance and boosting sustain.
It has LR Baggs RTS 2 electronics built-in (with volume control inside the soundhole), making it ready to plug-in and play live. It has a 1 3/4" bone nut, Plek Pro dressed frets, and Schaller tuners. Gorgeous looks and exquisite sound, this McPherson 4.0XP comes with a custom fit Ameritage case. Serial #1889.

An ultra comfortable neck that you could play all night, and finally, craftsmanship that will last a lifetime. The Macassar Ebony look fabulous in our photos, but in person it knocks your socks off. Finally, the L.R. Baggs pickup makes you ready for the stage. This guitar is truly an instrument that you'll enjoy for years!" - Brian S., MSM Gearhead
This MG features a top crafted from Port Orford Cedar - it's actually not a Cedar, but a form of Cypress. It's a superbly resonant, durable, and somewhat rare wood once favored for arrow making due to its straightness and ability to resist splitting. The back and sides are eye-catching Striped Macassar Ebony, an African hardwood with a brighter tone, akin to Maple or Koa. Just check out the back on this - really beautiful with the bookmatched Ebony featuring lighter sapwood on one edge creating an impressive stripe down the center. The combination of woods here gives you a bold sound with clarity and great balance.
The trademark cantilevered neck and offset soundhole on this also lend to the great resonance. All the details are here too, including gold finished Schaller tuners, sharp Curly Koa binding and the great L.R. Baggs RTS 2 pickup system. This McPherson MG 4.5 comes with the Ameritage hard case with a built in humidity control system. s/n: 1509

This stunning McPherson MG5.0XP is possibly the finest one we've ever received from these innovative builders. This has a top crafted from Port Orford Cedar (not really a Cedar) and back and sides that are flamed Black Acacia. We'll delve into the woods in a minute, but let's cut to the chase - the sound on this is unbelievable - lively, bold yet still with a delicacy making it perfect for stage or recording - or knocking your own socks off at home. Now the woods - Port Orford Cedar is an evergreen, like Cedar, but is technically not a cedar, really a Cypress. It is extremely durable, resists splitting - (was once upon a time the wood of choice for arrow-makers!)- plus it has superb resonance. It's not used often on guitars because it is somewhat rare.
The back and sides on this are flamed Black Acacia, also known as Australian Blackwood. This wood is a cousin of Koa, and is quite beautiful. It lends a beautiful open, woody tone - somewhat between Rosewood and Mahogany. The pairing of the two unique woods in this guitar are aurally stunning with a full sound that actually tops the impressive appearance. As always with McPherson's, this has the great cantilevered neck design, giving more resonance on the soundboard, and all the superb detailing. This McPherson MG5.0XP comes with the Ameritage hard case. s/n: 1534
