This Blazer and Henkes D-28 Burst has beautiful shading on the Alpine Spruce top. This wood was specifically selected, cut, cured and made ready by Blazer and Henkes and is quite similar to American Adirondack Spruce in looks and sound. The back and sides on this are an outstanding select Rosewood. Both top and back/sides have a wonderful traditional nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Rudie Blazer and Willi Henkes' ability to build spectacular guitars truly reminiscent of pre-war Golden Eras comes from their years of careful study of vintage instruments - which is how our pre-war collecting owner Jim Baggett met these gentlemen years ago. The B & H guitars have that certain pre-war warmth and true balance, and this D-28 is a shining example.

It is very rare when we come across a guitar that truly "grabs us", but this is a welcome exception. Identical to a Pre-War Martin OM in style, construction, and materials, this Blazer & Henkes San Antonio has a perfect mix of vintage lows and mids with the open top end of the best new boutique guitars. Exceptional straight-grained Brazilian rosewood, a beautiful Alpine Spruce top, and strong attention to detail take this guitar to the top echelon of the very best new "boutique" and pre-war vintage instruments. The neck has that great "played for 50 years" profile and the tone can be muscular or delicate, depending on playing dynamics. Unreal abalone inlay adorns this 45-style hard-to-get guitar. Of course, the playability is excellent, as you would expect from a guitar of this caliber. Includes hardshell case. s/n: 14 USED

Based on the style of a 1942 SJ, this guitar features Brazilian back and sides. The back is two piece book matched, but built with the traditional look of no center accent strip. The look is great. The Brazilian is very similar to that seen in the late '30s SJs and Advanced Jumbos. The finger board and bridge are quarter sawn Brazilian rosewood. The parallelogram fret markers are mother of pearl. As with all BLAZER and HENKES guitars, the attention to detail and observance of the important features of the finest American vintage guitars yields a modern guitar that is lovely to look at and to play. Includes hard shell tweed case. Slightly used / like new. Fantastic! USED

As expected this 000-40 style guitar is stunning in all ways. Based on the design of the late '20s - early '30s Martin 00-40 Hawaiian, but built on the popular 000 body shape, this guitar captures some of the best aesthetic and acoustic qualities available. The 000, 12 fret shape has always been a favorite for the discerning finger style guitarist. This shape combined with very fine Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, and beautiful Alpine Spruce top(very similar to Adirondack) results in a guitar that is rich and full, very balanced and has a tonal sustain that is unequaled. It is as delightful to look at as it is to play. The 40 style Abalone around the top adds just enough spark to draw your eye to the beautiful materials and expert craftsmanship, but still invites you to pick it up and play it. The attention to detail does not stop with the wood. The tuners are three on an plate, open gear, with a tasteful engraving on the plate. They are nearly identical to the tuners found on early guitars. BLAZER and HENKES guitars are hand made in Tuebengen, Germany. The two builders and restorers are known for their depth of knowledge of the finest of American vintage acoustic guitars and their passion for producing new guitars with respect to the important aspects of the early treasures. Due to the very small production, we only receive 3-4 guitars per year, but we feel that they are very significant in the world of modern makers and are thrilled to be able to include them in our inventory. Price includes tweed case.

This is a very, very nice guitar built in the tradition of the finest vintage D -style guitars from the 1930s. In addition to being guitar builders of the highest order, Blazer and Henkes have the benefit of being collectors and restorers of the finest American guitars. This guitar has a traditional mahogany back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge and an Alpine spruce top. The Alpine spruce is very similar to the American favorite of Adirondak spruce, yet it is a local wood for Blazer and they feel they can have a better selection. The results are apparent when you play this guitar. It is built with traditional hide glue and nitrocellulose lacquer.

This is one I the finest prewar style guitars we have ever seen. Rudy Blazer and Willi Henkes are world-class builders, restoration experts and collectors of the greatest of American acoustic guitars. Their shop in Tubengen, Germany is where they build a relatively small number of guitars each year. Most are sold in Europe, but I am happy to say that Mass Street Music has been fortunate enough to be able to present a few of these guitars. This guitar has the look, feel and sound that one would associate with a mid 30's D28. Special attention has been paid to every detail of the earlier guitars. The guitar is built with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, and an Alpine Spruce top. Alpine spruce is very similar Adirondak spruce, a wood that is local for these builders, allowing them to pick from the best of the best. Blazer and Henkes believe the early guitars have proved to be of the highest levels of sound and craftsmanship. I feel that they have succeeded in creating a new guitar that stands up to the fine guitars of the 1930's. Truly a great guitar. Includes Calton case.
The sound of this dread is as close to an old Martin as you can find. Brazilian back and sides capped with Alpine Spruce delivers a sound so loud and clear you would swear it was a "pre-war" morsel just dug up from the past. These guys really get it and this is our last B&H dread from the spring collection. Includes hardshell case. s/n: 10
